Club Member Event on 12th March 2011

March 3, 2011 in Events by Annie

After a deferral of our event from 6th March due to rain, we finally held our member event on 12th March 2011 to visit the famous site of Nanjing – Meihua Shan 梅花山 (Plum Blossom Hill), which is part of the Zijin Mountain 紫金山 and famous for its plum blossoms in spring.

We had amazing weather, a lot of fun and good food, but also a lot of people surrounding us, too! But it did not matter too much. At the end, we found a quiet place to relax and play cards and had a wonderful time. Check out the nice pictures we took and come join us in our next event!

Our Club Speech Contest 2011

February 25, 2011 in Events by Helen Reumann

“It was a real competition this time!”, said Jerel, our former president and founding member of the club. We have never had so many contestants participating to our Club Speech Contest in the past. And this time, there is even such a well balanced mix of participants of different background and Toastmasters’ experience, reflecting the very healthy development of our club!

On February 22nd and 23rd, the International Speech as well as the Mandarin Speech and Table Topic Contest 2011 of our Nanjing No. 1 Toastmasters Club took place at our usual meeting venue. In total, 6 contestants were competing against each other for the International Speech Contest title, 4 contestants for the Mandarin Speech Contest title, and 5 contestants for the Table Topic Contest title. The 1st Prize winner of each of the contests will go to Wuxi on March 20th to represent our Nanjing No. 1 Toastmasters Club to fight for the area level award. While the Mandarin and Table Topic winners will not go further then to Xiamen, where the Greater China Contest will take place this May, the winner of the International Speech Contest will even have the chance to go to the United States for participating to the global Speech Contest! How exciting!

All in all, we had two wonderful nights full of joy, excitement, and surprises (see also Events/Gallery -> Club Speech Contest 2011). Please join us congratulating the winners of our Club Contest:

1) International Speech Contest: 1st Prize – Jerel Bonner, 2nd Prize – Katie Zhang, 3rd Prize – Tina Li
2) Mandarin Speech Contest: 1st Prize – Katie Zhang, 2nd Prize – Wenbin Liang (only two prizes for Mandarin Speech Contest)
3) Table Topic Contest: 1st Prize – Leinie Zhang, 2nd Prize – Tina Li, 3rd Prize – Wenbin Liang

And good luck to all the 1st Prize winners for the Area Speech Contest in Wuxi!

On 8 January 2011, it was the very first time for toastmasters in Nanjing to get together to have a joint Christmas and New Year’s Party. This shall mark the very beginning for us to enjoy the wonderful toastmasters experience together.

With close to 40 people, we had a fantastic, fun and fruitful time with laughters, celebrating our success with gifts and live performances. Thank you very much to everyone for the support and participation in this successful event!

You can find the photos of this event in our Events/Gallery section. Look forward to having many more of such joint events in the future!

Club Event 28 Nov 2010

November 30, 2010 in Events by Helen Reumann

Apart from the contacts of asking people take over roles, to accept and prepare for roles and to perform and evaluate during the meetings, we also want that members exchange themselves and have fun with each other outside of our official meetings.

On 28 November 2010, a Club Event took place with around 12 members to first have a KTV session and a yummy hot pot dinner afterwards. Check out for the photos taken during this event!

Stayed tuned for the next meeting and hope to see you there!
